Friends of Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Friends of Sheba website.

I encourage you to look around and discover a medical center that is one of the best.  From Quonset huts in 1948 to a state-of-the-art hospital today, Sheba has grown up with the State of Israel, both celebrating their 60th anniversary.

Sheba is the largest medical center in the Middle East, where researchers and clinicians work side-by-side to find cures and therapies that will help their patients.

The Friends of Sheba in Los Angeles is dedicated to helping Sheba Medical Center achieve its varied and important goals. Our fundraising activities usually center on a specific project, such as the Sigi and Marilyn Ziering National Center for Newborn Screening that tests all newborns in Israel for treatable genetic diseases. This is a national center that serves ALL the children born in Israel, regardless of race or religion, and no matter in which hospital they were born. The Ziering Center is already up and running.

I invite you to join us. We have many activities throughout the year, and we would love to discover some new friends. I assure you that there is no better feeling than to know that your help has saved a life.

As the Talmud states,
“Whoever rescues a single life earns as much merit
as though he had rescued the entire world."
Sincerely,

Ruth Steinberger
